Marcus
and Bärbl are from Munich Germany and are now dancing together since 1991. They both started with
ballroom dancing in
1984 before they lost their hearts to Boogie Woogie and Swing. Marcus was also deeply involved in building up the Boogie Woogie
in the German Rock’n’Roll- and Boogie-Woogie-Federation in his function as a
sports manager. For 13 years Marcus and Bärbl also have been part of the
organization committee of the famous Boogie-Bären Witsun camp. Traveling and
teaching all over the World they brought Boogie Woogie and Swing in many corners
of the globe.
Marcus and Bärbl have a lot of experience in competing and teaching all around the World. They studied and worked a lot with the „old“ swing masters and featured movie dancers from the West Coast and East Coast. They worked with Frankie Manning („Hellzapoppin’), Gil Bradey („Don’t Knock The Rock“), Jean Veloz („Swing Fever“, „Groovie Movie“), Freda Angela („Rock Around The Clock“, „Don’t Knock The Rock“), John and Anne Mills (our Balboa mother), Willie Desatoff (Master of Balboa), Hal Takier („Twice Blessed“), Bob Hefner („Into Swing“), and Lee Laitz (who worked a lot with Dean Collins). Their performing and teaching skills comprise Boogie Woogie, Hollywood Style Lindy Hop, Savoy Style Lindy Hop, 30’s and 50's Jazz, Shim Sham, Charleston, Collegiate Shag, Balboa, Jitterbug Stroll, Big Apple, Swing Rueda. A specialty of Marcus and Bärbl is their ability of improvisation and music interpretation.
With an excellent synthesis of Boogie Woogie, Lindy Hop and Hollywood Style they formed their own style with their own outstanding character. This unique character made them so popular and let them win so many competitions. Their performances and classes are full of energy and fun. Join them and you will see.
