Rock That Swing - Jamboree Ball
Feb 21st, 2008
Deutsches Theater (Marquee)
Even the vintage building of the Deutsches Theater in the city centre is subject to renovation and reconstruction work for the next 3 years, the Jamboree Ball still will take place at the Deutsches Theater, but in the interim theatre marquee in Fröttmaning (north border of Munich).
We have already inspected the new location at the premier of the theatre and we are impressed! We hope you are as pleased as we are. Oliver Kahn (famous German soccer star) has even celebrated his farewell party in the Event Marquee.
The Theatre Marquee is a cantilever construction with loft character and without disturbing masts. The well-laid tables will be arranged in terraces around the dance floor, which will be in front of the stage, and you will have a perfect view on the 14 meter wide stage. The ballroom in the Main Marquee will be as beautiful decorated as in the old building. Additionally to the Main Marquee there will be an Event, Restaurant and Foyer Marquee which are all connected through the Foyer Marquee. This will give you the opportunity to swing back and forth between these marquees.
With two dance floors dancing is the order of the day and you can dance till you drop. If you don’t like to dance you can adore the bands, get enchanted by the highlights of the evenings or meet up for a nice chat at one of the bars. Additionally there will be again an open dance contest and high quality show acts up on the agenda.
The marvellous selection of the bands this year will be a very special delicacy for your ears and promise hot feet because with that line-up it will be very hard for you to stay seated.
Good News
Foyer
- The heated Foyer Marquee is very spacious and with its bars it invites you for a chat with the other guests. Thus you don’t have to stay outside in the cold and wait in long lines. The box offices of the Deutsches Theater and the RTSF and the coat check will be located in the Foyer as well.
To get into the right mood for the Jamboree Ball, Stefan Eberle & His Boogie Brothers will receive the guests already in the Foyer with cheerful sounds from the Boogie Woogie piano.
Ballroom in the Main and Event Marquee
- The Main Marquee and the Event Marquee have a wooden dance floor with 250 m² each. You will have a lot of space to run riot on the dance floor.
- All 6 Bands will play in turns in both marquees. As you can move freely between the marquees, this will give you the opportunity not to miss any band.
The show acts and the contest will take place at the Main Ballroom as usual.
- Numbered seats at well-laid tables and table service will be only available in the Main Ballroom. In the Event Ballroom are only a few seating possibilities (settees) which are arranged in a half circle around the dance floor. That’s why there is only self-service at the bars.
Aufgrund der Nutzungsmöglichkeit von zwei Sälen, können diesmal auch eine größere Anzahl an günstigen Saalkarten angeboten werden.
- Based on the possibility to use both ballrooms we can offer a bigger amount of non-seating tickets this year.
The “new” Deutsche Theater promises a delicious catering in comfortable atmosphere.
- For the ball season there will be a new catering service for the main ballroom only. They are very anxious to provide a good service for the guests. It’s planned to serve a special Menu in the main ballroom which has to be pre-ordered in advance. Detailed info will still follow after the convention with the catering service.
- There is also an extra Restaurant Marquee where the restaurant “Alhambra” is residing all year long. The Alhambra had their restaurant already located next to the Deutsches Theater in the Schwanthalerstraße. The Alhambra serves primilary Mediterranean food (very delicious!)
Great bargain parking possibilities
- Right accross the main entrance in the P+R parking house the visitors of the Deutsches Theater have the opportunity to park for a reduce price. It costs 1 € only, but you have to have your ball ticket with you when you exit the parking house, because in case of control you have to show them your ticket to apply for that price.
- The Deutsches Theater has an own parking lot behind the Marquee where you also can park for 1 € (2 minute walk to the main entrance).
Public Transportation
- From the city centre (subway station Marienplatz or Sendlinger Tor) it’s also very comfortable to take the U-Bahn (U6 direction Münchner Freiheit/Garching) to Fröttmaning. The way to the main entrance of the Deutsches Theater is covered so will arrive dry and save at the venue.
