Banner W5. Münchner Balboa Weekend

Class Schedule

The classes will be held at different dance studios in the centre of Munich, which are only a few walking minutes away from each other. Each class is 75 minutes long. All studios are equipped with wooden floors! Make sure that you bring shoes with a slippery sole (leather soles, suede leather etc.). Rubber soles are not very useful for Balboa. You often have very close contact in Balboa, so don't forget to bring extra shirts, towels, deodorant, toothbrush, etc. (your partner will adore you for that!).

On site registration will start at 10:00 am (Saturday) and 9:30 am (Sunday) at the Tanzhaus am Stachus (Que Tango). Make sure you are there early enough so you have a few minutes to go to your class and level.

Our shop (shoes, pants, videos, CDs, etc.) will be open at the Tanzhaus am Stachus (Que Tango) from 9am to approx. 3pm.

16:40 Good-Bye

Please take your own dance level into account and join the level where you fit in. It's in your own interest and also in the interest of all other participants. There are no special class themes so the teachers can address the material to the needs of the classes. They will cover all important aspects like footwork, turns, figures, rhythm, variations ...

Level Description

Balboa Beginner:
On Saturday the teachers will start right from the beginning and build up on the material and difficulty. There is NO dance knowledge neccessary for the first unit of the Beginner track. If you have never done Balboa before, you should start on Saturday with the first unit. The beginner track is also recommended to the dancers who want to refresh their Balboa basic knowledge or to see how other teachers are teaching the basics. Each teacher has his/her own preference and way and it's always a good inspiration and new experience.

Balboa Beginner/Intermediate:
The Beginner/Intermediate track is the follow-up of the Beginner track. If you have never danced Balboa before you need to start with the beginner track on Saturday first. If you have taken the Saturday Beginner track and want to learn more you can continue here. Also if you have danced already some Balboa and know a few basic figures, but are not sure in them yet this track is the right choice for you. You will improve your Balboa skills and learn new figures and steps.

Balboa Intermediate:
Minimum requirement for the Intermediate classes are the Basics, Come Around (Break Turn) and some basic figures as Paddles, Lollies, Throw Out, Inside Turn, Add-Libs.

Balboa Advanced:
To join this class level you should dance Balboa / Bal-Swing on a higher level on a regular base. You know your steps and figures very well and are prepared for new challenges. Footwork variations and variations of the basic figures as Lollies, Inside-/Outside Turn, Throw Out, Come Around, Adlibs etc. should be absolutely NO problem for you.

Shag Beginner I:
For this unit there are no requirements. The teachers will start right at the beginning. You will learn the Shag Basic with different footwork varations and some funny elements.

Shag Beginner II:
The basic will be briefly reviewed and then you will learn more material and technique. Shag Beginner I is highly recommended if you are not a quick learner.

Shag Intermediate:
Fancy figures and polished basics for Single and Double Time Shag. Requirement for the intermediate level is a solid foundation of the basic step and the common basic figures.
